When vehicle is in motion

Pull heater flap lever to the rear as far as it will go. Turn knob of temperature regulating switch to the right to position “1”. The green warning lamp in the switch knob lights up and shows that heater is working. The temperature can be adjusted from minimum to maximum by turning knob further to the right.

To switch off heating

Turn knob of regulating switch to the left position “0”. The warning lamp goes out. Push heater lever fully forward.

Depress knob of temperature regulating switch (which is combined with a timer) and turn it 90 degrees to the right. The knob springs back out when released. Pull lever to the rear as far as it will go.

Adjust temperature by turning knob (1 - minimum heat, 2 - maximum heat).

Warning lamp lights up and shows that the heater is working.

To switch heater off

The timer in the temperature regulating switch will turn the heater off automatically after about 10 minutes and the warning light will go out.

You can however switch the heater off before the 10 minutes have elapsed, by turning the knob counterclockwise to position “1” or fully to the left to position “0”. The timer then runs down operating the switch contacts.

Note

When the heater is switched off, the fan and combustion motors continue to run until the heater has cooled down and the combustion chamber has been purged. When it is extremely cold, the full battery capacity is required to start the engine. To avoid starting difficulties, it is advisable, under these conditions, to start the engine before switching on the heater.

Preselecting the time with the optional clock-timer

Turn the setting knob counterclockwise until the desired time is lined up with the mark. Switch-on sign “red” shows that the preselector control is switched on.

Pull heater flap lever up and set temperature with the temperature regulating switch knob. At the selected time the heater will switch on and work for about 15 minutes. After this time the heater will switch off again automatically. The heater will remain on if the ignition is switched on before the timer has run down. Terminal 15 then takes over the power supply for the control cable of the double relay.

To switch preselector control off

Turn the setting knob clockwise until “green” appears in the aperture. The preselector mechanism is then out of action. The heating can now only be switched on, when driving, with the temperature regulating switch.

Day and night disc: Day section from 06.00-18.00 hours (6 am to 6 pm) is white; night section from 18.00 to 06.00 hours (6 pm to 6 am) in black. The transition from one section to another is shown by an arrow.

If the clock is removed or replaced or the battery disconnected, ensure afterwards that the correct color shows in the aperture according to the time of the day. If this is not the case, the correct color can be set by depressing and turning the clock setting knob. This is necessary because the selector mechanism has a 24 hour setting disc but the clock has only a 12 hour setting. When the disc does not correspond to the time of day (white or black), the heater will switch on 12 hours later than desired.
