Cold Start Valve

Voltage supply at cold start valve

With engine at idle speed and electrical plug disconnected from start valve you should get 11-12.5 Volts between terminals 45 and 46 of the disconnected cold start valve plug with engine temperature below 86 F/30 C. With engine temperature above 104 F/40 C the reading should fall to 0 Volts. If values given are not reached, check thermo-time switch for proper function. Check cables 45 and 46 for continuity.

Cold start valve coil winding resistance

The resistance between terminals 45 and 46 of cold start valve should read about 4 Ohms. If winding is open (infinite resistance) or shorted (no resistance), replace cold start valve.
