Another guide to classic car values is the CPI (Cars of Particular Interest) guide which you can find online at www.cpivalueguide.com. The website allows you to do free evaluations but restricts the pricing data to vehicles in excellent condition. Ed Kazakavich made me aware of this guide and says that insurance adjusters usually use the CPI when evaluating classic cars. Here is what this guide said about the Type 4 in 2007 (currently they do not offer any free pricing lookups):
